City of Parkersburg Housing Rebate Program

Let us help with the Housing Rebate Program provided by the City of Parkersburg.
The City of Parkersburg and Parkersburg Economic Development would like to inform you of a new program we have established to help encourage home construction in our community. This program is designed to provide property tax relief for new homeowners that locate in the TIF district established by the City.
We have established this program with the intent of helping make Parkersburg an affordable and attractive place for you to live and raise a family.
Requirements
Home must be owner occupied.
Home must be built within the next five years.
Must be the purchase of a new single-family spec or prefab home or towards the construction of a new single-family dwelling.
How It Works
You, the new homeowner, would receive a rebate on your property taxes for the purchase of your new home within our TIF district in the following fashion:
You would receive:
In Year 2 - a 25% rebate
In Year 3 - a 50% rebate
In Year 4 - a 75% rebate
In Year 5 - a 100% rebate
Limitations
Non-transferable if home is sold within the first five years.
Applies only to property taxes paid on the structure, not on the land value.
Property tax must be paid in full on time, then rebate check is issued.
NOT available for rental property and penalties will be given to anyone who takes the rebate while using the home for rental purposes.
