Information for Applicant

  1. Application forms are available from the City Clerk.
  2. Application forms must be filled out and submitted to the building inspector for approval prior to proposed construction. Construction site must be staked our.
  3. Building Permit fee must be paid to City Clerk upon return of approved application.
  4. Applications may be filled out by Contractor or builder, but MUST BE SIGNED BY OWNER of proposed improvement.
  5. Applicant will call Iowa One Call 48 hours prior to digging @ 1-800-292-8989 for proper clearance before any digging or construction can begin.
  6. No construction will be allowed until the Building Inspector has approved the initial staking and setbacks of proposed construction/improvement and a permit is ussued. Contact Craig Etjen at cell: 319-493-5067 or home: 346-1328. Owner of the proposed improvement.
  7. Upon the start of construction, the building inspector must be contacted, so that the project can be approved. If construction does not comply with the approved building application, the owner will be required to demolish, or correct the violation at his/her own expense.

The owner also agrees that the improvements and use of the property will be in accordance with the ordinances of the Town of Parkersburg, Iowa, and the laws of the State of Iowa which apply to the improvements and their use. The owner also agrees to abide by the specific Covenants for their specific development/addition in the City of Parkersburg, which may be more restrictive than the City Code. Application must be accompanied by 1 drawing (site plan) of said property and proposed improvements. Drawings should be shown on the space provided below, and should show the following:

  1. Indicate North on plan.
  2. Dimensions of the property
  3. The exact location of the proposed improvements on the lot with distance to front, side and rear lot lines.
  4. Principal dimensions of proposed improvements.
  5. Location of existing structures on building site.
  6. Names of any streets adjacent to the property.
  7. Location of any alleys adjacent to the property.
  8. Location of any proposed trenches or other excavations, (other than basement excavation.)
  9. Signature of Permittee.
